Dispatch and Coordination

Coordinated Communication and Accurate information

Working on Fire provide an integrated and operationally tested communication and dispatch model.

When an unwanted fire is detected that requires any suppression, the fire must first be reported and the status of the fire relayed to assisting resources, and if required, be able to request additional resources. Operational information, including fuel information and type, topography, burning conditions, and weather must also be communicated to firefighters, managers and other resources. Resources dispatched are determined by pre-agreed rules put in place before the start of a fire season. Decisions on what resources to dispatch are based on the Fire Danger Index (FDI).
